Enlisting into the army was a celebrated thing from all countries, it shows a man's character
Support from the COMMUNITY
During the war the leaders of the country needed more men to enlist to have a fair chance in out weighing the opposition. Word had spread that the was only really going to last a year then the wars would cease. This was not the case and turned out to be one of the biggest to this day. Many family members, local members persuaded the men to enlist as a great experience as it wasn’t expected to last very long at all. The benefit mentioned at the time was the experience to be turned into heroic men defending for their country, returning as role model heroes, having an experience of the war, the respect towards them, the defending for the country nationalism and most importantly not being claimed as weak or a coward by friends or family.
Some parents wanted their children to go to the war as it was almost like a trophy to show heir friends and gain respect from the community. The public was heavily involved praising the men for joining treating the men with great respect by giving them free offerings and many more. Many of the local communities never experienced the war and thought about it in the way in such a wonderful experience for them representing their country, which told by the leaders involved. The war wasn’t as expected by the men when they arrived on the front, almost the complete opposite to what they were expecting. Men were faced with terrible conditions among the diseases, conditions of the trenches, the dangers faced and many more.
